Antarctica - Shackleton

In early 2014 Wendy Sharpe and Bernard Ollis voyaged to Antarctica following the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914 to 1917. Shadowing the crew and their doomed ship Endurance, Sharpe and Ollis travelled the Southern Ocean, Weddell Sea and the sub-Antarctic islands of South Georgia and Elephant Island. The invitation to join the voyage had been made by The Mawson's Huts Foundation, works were exhibited and all proceeds donated to The Foundation.

Gouache 2014. On the subject of colour, some of the most astonishing things I have ever seen were jade icebergs. They look like a 1960's blown glass objects or boiled lollies bright blue and almost transparent like icecubes from the fridge.
